Colombo Industrie Tessili's archive aims at being a place of consultation, study and research, open to students, young designers, curious and amateurs, but also a "useful" space, of daily use by employees.
With a focus on jacquard, which we are expert connoisseurs of, we want to collect, preserve and cultivate the importance of Made in Italy and the company know-how, with the aim of shaping the textile process innovation out of the past. We will be a "living" archive, capable of narrating the textile world, not as a nostalgic and monumental eulogy of the past, but as a matter of continuous experimentation, contamination and innovation. A laboratory of projects and an exhibition space. The space includes an area devoted to books, samples, textiles and documents. Here, with the support of the digital archive, visitors can search for the material they need, learn about the properties of fabrics, their characteristics, how they are made and how they respond to external input.
The entrance will be dedicated to a timeline that traces the salient moments in the evolution of our company, so as to communicate the heritage of our history. Finally we will dedicate an area to our journey in sustainability, both environmental and social, and to the narration of our making fabrics process, especially jacquards, through the use of digital media.
To mark this significant moment for the company, we decided to celebrate one of the projects central to our sustainability journey. Progetto|62, led by Arman Avetikyan, has started an initiative that embraces and enhances recycling and upcycling, while making creative and innovative Made in Italy products in collaboration with different realities. THIS IS PALINDROMO.
This first temporary exhibition in our space hosts artworks born from the collaboration with Art Design S.r.l. and the Eco-creative collective of Reggio Emilia, a community composed of people with disabilities and mental health problems. Fabrics supplied by Colombo Industrie Tessili were customized by Art Design Srl and made by Eco-Creativo guests. The end result is a capsule of unique and precious fabrics that reflect Italian know-how.
"In Fabbrica" will be open to visitors by appointment every 1st and 3rd Thursday.
