On January 2024, we joined Museimpresa, embarking on a new journey into the narration of our world.
The Colombo Industrie Tessili Archive is a vibrant space for research and experimentation. It's a place where students, designers, enthusiasts, and curious minds can delve into the world of textiles. But it's also a space for daily use by our team. A particular focus on jacquard. We aim to preserve and cultivate the richness of Italian craftsmanship and our company's expertise. By learning from our past, we strive to innovate the textile process for the future. The archive serves as a living testament to textile knowledge—not a nostalgic ode to the past, but a platform for ongoing experimentation, collaboration, and innovation. A project laboratory and an exhibition space. We are open, by appointment, on the first and third Thursday of the month.
Hosted at Castel Baradello in Parco Regionale Spina Verde, it explores the value of heritage, with silk as the thread that links Como's textile tradition to the Japanese one.
The textile works, some taken from the archive of the Mazzocchi Museum of Oriental Art and from the association Mnemosyne, tell historical and cultural stories.
The project also highlights the value of collaboration between the two cities, realized through cultural and professional exchanges, symbolized by a woven map of Japan given to us by Italgeo association
and designed by Minori Morozumi De Agostini.
The exhibition also explores the concept of "home" and hospitality, represented by an installation that invites visitors to feel at home, even when far from their own land. TÖCO tells a deep connection between the two cities, built through art and textile tradition.
The archive's space transforms with each exhibit, revealing the diverse collaborations Colombo Industrie Tessili has undertaken to promote sustainability, inclusion, and artistic innovation.
Our archive is the permanent exhibition of our space, offering a glimpse into Colombo Industrie Tessili's history. Visitors can explore our textiles, historical documents, digital archives, and design sketches. This collection tells the story of the company's legacy and showcases the creative process of jacquard fabric production, from raw yarn to finished product. Video installations depict the company's vertically integrated production process and highlight initiatives throughout the years.
We believe in the power of dialogue. Our archive hosts meetings, discussions, and workshops, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing ideas and insights, pushing the boundaries of textile design and craftsmanship.
